DIY: Make-up Table Vanity

Before & After

So Mike had this nightstand before we met.  He was using it as a nightstand. Weird.  Apparently it’d been painted and at one point he used the top of it to write down phone numbers (in the time before iPhones).  Have I mentioned he’s old?

Anyway, once my furniture moved in we relocated the nightstand to our guest room and it’s been in there ever since.  During a recent cleaning spree, I decided I needed more storage in our bedroom and didn’t want to purchase anything.  So I searched the house for something that might be useful and the nightstand is what I found.  I texted Mike to make sure he didn’t care if I painted it.  He didn’t.

I did a quick sand job, bought some paint and primer, and then spent an afternoon giving the nightstand a face-lift.  I also painted one of Mike’s old mirrors to match.  Then I transferred my makeup, perfume, and skin-care products to my newfound vanity.  Ta-da! I think it adds a bit of character to the corner.

And it was easy to do.  The only minor frustration was dealing with my inner need for instant gratification and waiting for paint layers to dry.

So cute! It looks 100 times better. Love the color and the idea to use it as a makeup station!
